GTU CGPA Calculator
Gujarat Technological University (GTU) uses a unique grading system with letter grades AA through FF. GTU calculates SPI (Semester Performance Index) for each semester and CPI (Cumulative Performance Index, equivalent to CGPA) across all semesters.
Grade scale
GTU uses a 10-point grading scale with unique labels: AA=10, AB=9, BB=8, BC=7, CC=6, CD=5, DD=4, FF=0. Grade DD is the minimum passing grade. GTU uses the terms SPI (Semester) and CPI (Cumulative) instead of SGPA and CGPA.
| grade | grade point |
|---|---|
| AA | 10 |
| AB | 9 |
| BB | 8 |
| BC | 7 |
| CC | 6 |
| CD | 5 |
| DD | 4 |
| FF | 0 |
How it works
GTU's conversion formula is: Percentage = (CPI − 0.5) × 10. The grade scale uses AA=10, AB=9, BB=8, BC=7, CC=6, CD=5, DD=4, and FF=0. Enter your semester grades below.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between SPI and CPI at GTU?
SPI (Semester Performance Index) is your semester-level performance, calculated the same way as SGPA at other universities. CPI (Cumulative Performance Index) is your overall performance across all semesters, equivalent to CGPA.
How does GTU convert CPI to percentage?
GTU uses the formula: Percentage = (CPI − 0.5) × 10. For example, a CPI of 7.5 converts to (7.5 − 0.5) × 10 = 70%.
What CPI is required for distinction at GTU?
A CPI of 7.1 or above qualifies for First Class with Distinction. CPI of 6.5 or above qualifies for First Class. CPI of 5.5 or above qualifies for Second Class. Below 5.5 is Pass Class.
